
About the First Ulster
The Recreated First Ulster Militia was reorganized in 1996 by Ben Carlos who was President and commander until 2007 and still remains the "spiritual" leader of the group. His goal was to educate the public about our country's Colonial and Revolutionary War heritage, to support and promote local historical sites, and to work to maintain historical accuracy while we enjoy the comradery and friendship of like-minded citizens.

As the crew of the Pettiauger Mercury, we have recreated an actual full scale replica of an 18th cnetury pettiauger, a boat once ubitquous on the Hudson River, but for all intents and purposes, forgotten. Pettiauger Mercury is the first of her kind to ply the waters of the geat Hudson River in over 150 years and, as far as we know, the only example of a Dutch style perriauger in existance today..
As La Milice de Fort Saint Frederic, we portray a Canadian milicia unit fighting for New France and Louis XV in the Lake Champlain Valley during the French & Indian War.
